      • In Subway, the sanitizer for dishwashing was tested and found to be only 50 ppm quat. The sanitizer bucket for rags was found to be only 100 ppm quat. Both were remade at the request fo the PHI.
    • 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
      • Behind the Circle K counter, the drawer to the immediate right of the oven was storing food items/utensils as well as non food items without any separation.
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • In the back storage area for Circle K, there is a sticky area on the floor coming from damaged beverages awaiting return.

    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Circle K: The back door in the warehouse area has visible light at the bottom and the weatherstripping must be repaired or replaced.
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • Circle K: A deep clean is required for floors in the back warehouse area, with special attention to corners, underneath equipment and along wall edges.

    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • Subway: Chlorine sanitizer powder "Sani Station" is being used for the meat slicer. Pre-mixed solution was tested and was found to be at 10 ppm. Staff were unable to locate chlorine test strips and were untrained on how to mix the powder or how to test it. Chlorine strips were located by the PHI in the box with the remaining packets of sanitizer. Manufacturer's instructions state pre-mixed product should be tested prior to each use. Sanitizer was remade and tested to be 100 ppm chlorine.

      • There was no sanitizer solution in the sanitizer bucket at the front service area of the Subway part of the facility. The staff present prepared a 200ppm Quat sanitizer solution during inspection.Please ensure a bucket of sanitizer solution is always available.
