Inspection summary

Denny's Restaurant - Williams Lake has been inspected 11 times by Interior Health Authority since March 18, 2013. The most recent inspection, on October 23, 2025, found no infractions.

7 of 11 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Food temperature control.

The last 2 inspections in a row found no infractions. The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 23, 2023. For example: 2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?

  • Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk

Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.

Recorded once on October 18, 2018. For example: 2 Is the premises construction and layout unchanged and in accordance with approved plans?

  • Equipment and utensilsLower risk

Equipment has to be built from cleanable materials, kept in good repair and stored properly. These findings are mostly about upkeep, like a cracked shelf, a worn gasket or utensils stored the wrong way. They are generally lower risk but show how well the kitchen is maintained.

Recorded once on October 18, 2016. For example: Are the premises, equipment and utensils designed and maintained to ensure safe and sanitary food handling?

I was lucky enough to have Mary-Lou serve my dad and I on a father/daughter brunch date. She was lovely, funny, and provided great service. The entire staff know my dad as a regular and look after him extremely well, as demonstarted by Mary-Lou,which is hugely appreciated by all of us! It was also a yummy brunch! Highly recommend!

Being evacuated from 70 Mile has brought a lot of uncertainty, stress, and heavy days for our family. When everything in your life is temporarily turned upside down, having a safe, quiet, and comforting place to ground yourself means far more than words can fully express. For us over the last three days, that place has been Denny's in Williams Lake. We have walked through their doors every morning for breakfast and every evening for dinner. The food itself is warm, hearty, and deeply satisfying, the exact kind of classic, reliable comfort food you crave when you just need a moment of normalcy. But as comforting as the meals are, they are only a small part of why this spot has become so special to us. The true heart of this restaurant is its people. We want to extend our deepest, most sincere gratitude to Anna, Florence, Mary Lou, and Angel. From the moment we sat down on our very first visit, each of you treated us with extraordinary gentleness, patience, and care. Whether it was sharing a sweet smile when we looked exhausted, or taking the time for kind, gentle conversation, your hospitality is so appreciated. You have provided us, (and continue to provide us) with a peaceful sanctuary twice a day in some of the hardest weeks of our lives. It takes special people to create an environment that feels this safe, warm, and welcoming. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible kindness and generosity of spirit. You represent the very best of this community! With love and gratitude, Sonny & Harrison
