      • Vanguard, a quaternary ammonium (quat) based sanitizer, is in use. Quat test strips were not available.Test strips appropriate to the type of sanitizer or disinfectant used must be available, and used to verify sanitizer concentration.Obtain quat test strips capable of measuring 200-400 ppm.

      • Bingo daubers specifying "keep out of reach of children" were found within reach of children.Bingo daubers were removed during inspection.Use bingo daubers intended for use by children.

      • Test strips are not available to monitor sanitizer concentration.For quat based sanitizer (eg Vanguard), test strips must be capable of measuring 200-400 ppm.For chlorine, test strips must be capable of measuring 100-200 ppm.Ensure test strips are available for each type of sanitizer in use. Test strips must be used to verify sanitizer concentration each time a solution is prepared, and at least daily if solution is used over multiple days.Note: test strips have been ordered.

      • Operator is cleaning surfaces throughout the day only with soap and water, with no sanitizing/disinfecting step.A small amount of Vanguard (quat solution) was present in the room.Ensure surfaces such as tables are cleaned and sanitized throughout the day, particularly if soiled or between uses.Procedures discussed during inspection.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Window screens were not securely fastened to the wall and have the potential to fall on children.Ensure the window screens are securely fastened and do not pose a hazard to children.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • There is a combination slide/swing structure in the indoor play area. A rug is underneath part of the structure but a fall protection surface or zone is not present. The structure measured 24 inches high at the top of the slide.This structure may be kept in the play area if the following conditions are met:- a suitable fall protection surface must be in place- the structure must be sturdy and not easily tippable with the fall protection surface in place- a fall surfacing zone of 1.8m around the structure must be in place. This zone must be free of other objects or equipment while the play structure is in use.- structure must be maintained in good repair with no cracks, frayed rope, or other damage- children must be appropriately supervised to prevent falls/injuriesAlternatively, the structure may be removed from the play area.

      • Hot water temperature at the hand sinks measured 55.6C.Ensure the hot water temperature at the taps is measured at no greater than 53.0C. A temperature of no more than 49.0C is recommended.A mixing valve tap may help reduce water temperature.

      • Bingo daubers specifying "keep out of reach of children" and acrylic paint specifying "for adult use only" were present and within child access.Bingo daubers and acrylic paint was removed from service during inspection.Ensure all craft items are non-toxic and suitable for children. Products may have the AP symbol to indicate they are safe and non-toxic.
