      • Some nail dust was noted on the worktables and in the storage cupboards of the manicure station.**Please clean and disinfect workstations after each client**Equip manicure stations with nail dust collectors to collect and keep dust controlled and maintain a clean environment.

      • Improper washing and disinfection of semi-critical was observed during the inspection. Staff was observed brushing dirty tools under running water, no detergent was being used, tools were not dried prior to soaking in the disinfectant.**Ensure that staff are educated on proper process of washing and disinfection of tools**Tools should be washed with appropriate detergent, inspected to ensure adequate cleaning, rinsed and dried prior to soaking in disinfectant solution.

      • Used porous single use tools (nail buffers) were stored in a cupboard in the manicure station.**Discard used tools**Do not reuse porous items that cannot be adequately washed and disinfected.
    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • Dirty manicure tools were stored in a cupboard in the manicure station.**Ensure that dirty tools are stored separate from clean tools and transported immediately to the reprocessing area to be cleaned and disinfected

      • There was no paper towel in the hand sink in the guest washroom. Operator replaced paper towel during the inspection.**Ensure that hand sinks are equipped with hot and cold water, soap and paper towel dispenser at all times.
    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Large amounts of used porous nail buffers were noted by the reprocessing sink, in the manicure station cupboards and in a basket stored with reprocessed reusable tools**Discard all used porous/non-cleanable items after each use.**Do not reuse items that are labelled single-use.**Do not reprocess porous tools as items cannot be cleaned and are to be used one time and discarded after each use.

      • Dirty reusable manicure tools were stored inside the cupboards of the manicure station.**Ensure that all dirty re-usable tools are transported in a clean and sanitary manner to the reprocessing area for reprocessing after each use.**Do not store dirty/used tools in the cupboards.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Operator stated semi-critical tools are soaked in the CS20 solution for 5 minutes. Manufacturer's instructions advise to soak tools for at least 20minutes.**Ensure that manufacturer's instruction on the use of high-level disinfectant is being followed to ensure equipment are adequately disinfected.
