  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

First time shopping here, and unfortunately, it will be my last. I brought my kids with me, and while I was at the till, my son was simply helping unload the groceries onto the belt. He took a bottle of wine from the cart and placed it on the belt, and the cashier immediately made a scene in front of everyone, telling him he wasn’t allowed to touch it. Her reaction startled and embarrassed my son. I explained that he was simply helping unload the cart and asked her to calm down, but she continued making an issue of it. My boys were only trying to help with the groceries, and the situation could have been handled politely and respectfully. Very disappointing experience. I should have left the groceries there, and I won’t be shopping at this location again.

Wonderful supermarket, great quality and variety, we live near by and it’s very convenient that they open long hours, they have great wine too and all you need without going into Invermere town. Thank you! I recommend it 100%

We have been shopping here for sixteen years and it is always a good experience with a great selection of fresh vegetables and fruits and meats. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. The store has a new owner and they have eliminated the membership (loyalty) program which was a nice association for locals or regulars in the area. Unfortunate indeed; as lower quality now @ $2.20 a bunch for green onions and tomatoes for $3.99/lb is a turn off. We will make the trip to Invermere.

Fairmont Mountainside Market is a wonderful spot—small, friendly, and surprisingly well-stocked for a community this size. The store is clean, easy to navigate, and has a really thoughtful selection of groceries, snacks, fresh items, and everyday essentials. The staff are warm, helpful, and always make you feel welcome, which adds a lot to the experience. One thing worth mentioning: if you’re coming from the East, the prices in BC can definitely feel high, and this store is no exception. But that’s more of a regional thing than anything to do with the market itself. Considering the location and convenience, they do a great job keeping a solid range of products available without sacrificing quality. Overall, Mountainside Market is a great place to stop—whether you need a few things for your stay or just want to pick up some local items. It’s reliable, friendly, and incredibly convenient. Highly recommended!
