Inspection summary

Farrier Pub has been inspected 3 times by Interior Health Authority since October 25, 2019. The most recent inspection, on May 12, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.

None of the 3 inspections on record were free of infractions. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Handwashing and staff hygiene and Cleaning and sanitizing.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on May 12, 2026. For example: 5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded once on July 8, 2024. For example: 7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on October 25, 2019. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

Had our second visit last weekend. Had not been since our first visit 4 months previous. Our waitress remembered us, that we had our son with us last time, where we were from, what beer we had ordered...amazing. Don't let the simple "bar" atmosphere fool you...the menu is so varied, not your usual pub food, (though they do have those options) and the food delicious! We have tried the smash burgers, the mini stuffed yorkies, the grilled veggie sandwich, mexican street tacos and the enchilada taco salad, with tofu...all of which have been amazing. So great to find healthier and vegetarian options as well as the usual meat lovers fare. Great cold beer, relaxed friendly atmosphere and a creative, delicious menu. We will be back!

While visiting my parents at Hawkins Lake, I went with a group of about 20 for dinner. I'm not a drinker, so I didn't know what I was in for at a bar/pub, thinking the meals would be secondary to the pours! Boy, was I surprised! The chef that night was amazing, as every single meal was great! The fact that there was a Greek meal, as well as a Thai, Italian, Mexican etc all available blew my mind. And they were all spectacular! It wasn't an overly busy menu, just "one of each". It definately was not regular "Pub Fare" (but the chicken strips and burgers were top-notch, too)! Too bad I live 6 hours away!

Loved our dinner experience last night at this establishment. Went with hubby, in-laws and their friend. Enjoyed their fantastic rice dish with prawns, hubby had the stroganoff. Didn't know hockey canada against the states were on so it was busy and kinda loud. Wonderful food and an amazing owner. Thank you! We called ahead to reserve our table of five and got a callback confirmation

Stopped in while on a Sunday drive, and so glad we did! Happy to be one of the first to try their new menu, and we were amazed with the choices. Deanna was a great hostess and the food was fantastic! We had the Naan falafel and stuffed Yorkies, both were filling for lunch and the fries are great. Definetly coming back
