      • A disinfectant with no DIN was being used to disinfect pedicure basins. Ensure pedicure tubs are cleaned with soap and water, dried, sprayed with an intermediate-level disinfectant such as RTU for an adequate amount of time as recommended by manufacturer, rinsed, and dried.

      • Written procedures for skin preparation for cleansing skin, post-service care, and client care in an event of accident cut/puncture are not available for review. Please ensure the written procedures for the above are available.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Alcohol was being used to disinfect semi-critical nail tools and Dremel bits. All semi critical nail tools must be cleaned with soap and water, dried, soaked in high-level disinfectant, rinsed, and dried. 2. Basin used for disinfection of tools was too small for the proper submersion of tools. Obtain a larger basin that is capable of holding all tools so that they are fully covered by high-level disinfectant

      • Acetone in manicure desk was not labelled. Ensure that all products are properly labelled.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • Reprocessing sink is easily accessible to clients. Post signage that indicates that the reprocessing sink is for use by employees only. No clients or staff should be using the reprocessing sink for handwashing. Handwashing must be conducted in the washroom.
