Inspection summary
Frugal Frocks has been inspected 7 times by Interior Health Authority since November 29, 2016. The most recent inspection, on March 19, 2026, found no infractions.
3 of 7 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Food temperature control and Protecting food from contamination.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on May 16, 2023. For example:
3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on April 3, 2025. For example:
2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded once on May 20, 2022. For example:
5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?

LOVE LOVE LOVE Frugal Frocks--it's definitely one of Armstrong's gems!! I get most of my clothes there -the prices are so good and everything is great quality (not like some thrifts where you have to dig through stained or worn-out stuff). Susan and the other staff are so friendly and welcoming, it really feels like a local family-run place in the best possible way. Oh, and the coffee is so good too, I’ll often pop in just for a cup and a visit (and browse around the new items!) Definitely recommend if you’re looking for affordable everyday clothes or some really cool vintage pieces.

I have been shopping and bringing items for consignment to Frugal Frocks for over 5 years now. I come from Alberta about a 10 hour drive to bring items there and shop there. I love this little treasure as well as my family and friends. Armstrong is lucky to have such a great shop in their town. Susan is a wonderful gal and very knowledgeable and very fair with pricing. I haven’t found a shop here where I live equal to that I highly recommend stopping by there to look and shop. Fantastic. 😁

My first visit to this cute store was many years ago and I was not disappointed. Susan's creativity shows all through the store with the ever changing displays of clothing, jewellry, and numerous vintage items and linens. I have also been more than satisfied with items that I have consigned with her over the years. I always look forward to going to her store.

Zero class + zero customer service skills = ZERO STARS (but had to give one in order to post this...she deserves negative stars). 10 minutes before she closed, a group of us went in and had handfuls of items and the owner said she was about to close and had after work obligations. Yelled at two others who came in behind us "I'm closing!" The owner was beyond rude and aggressive. Some of left right away because it was stressful to be in such a hostile environment. I will visit Armstrong again but will NEVER support her business.

Fantastic customer service! Susan is super knowledgeable and friendly and goes above and beyond! I am a customer and she helped me when I had my mom's clothes and jewelry to consign during that difficult time. She took care of everything so I didn't have to worry about it. Her store is a real gem for Armstrong 🥰
