- (1) There were no written procedures available at the time of inspection. * The operator completed the Written Procedure for Accidental Skin Cuts or Punctures at the time of inspection.* The Written Procedures for (i) Cleansing Skin and (ii) Handwashing and Equipment Reprocessing Sink Decontamination were not completed.
- 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
- (1) The washroom hand sink was not equipped with single use paper towels or hand towels. * Ensure staff are performing hand hygiene (i.e. washing hands with soap/water) when required. Hand hygiene must be performed by the personal services worker before and after every personal service, before putting on gloves that will be worn while providing a personal service, following the removal of gloves that are worn while providing a personal service, and after reprocessing.
- 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
- (1) Cleansing of the skin was not being done prior to waxing.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- (1) There were no High Level Disinfectant logs being kept for the PREempt CS20.(2) There were no test strips available for the PREemp CS20.(3) The proper cleaning steps for tools were not being done. Discussed washing tools with soap and water at the designated sink, rinse, air dry, disinfect tools for the required contact time, rinse prior to use on clients. Ensure there is a surface/shelf near the sink for doing all the clean-up and disinfection steps.(4) The outside of the wax pots had a build-up of wax spills.
