    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Food preparation (cutting fruit/vegetable) was conducted in the OSC room and not in an approved kitchen (cutting was observed in the childcare room). Ensure that all food preparation takes place in the approved kitchen.

      • Some staples on the family picture tree were loose above the children's area in the Kinder and OSC room. Thumbtacks on notice boards were easily reachable by children.- Remove loose staples and secure the remaining staples with pieces of tape.- Ensure push pins/thumbtacks are at levels not reachable by children.

      • Expired antiseptic wipes found inside a first aid kit in toddler room 3 was immediately removed from the kit.Check all first aid kit and have any expired item replaced.

      • The leather couches in the Kinder and OSC rooms were torn and could not be easily cleaned or disinfected.Repair or replace the couches to facilitate cleaning and disinfection.

      • The outdoor sink located in the East playground area, which is used for handwashing, was found to have a missing faucet and a disconnected plumbing line from the water fixture.Ensure the outdoor sink is repaired and fully operational before the daycare begins using the playground during the spring and summer months.

      • Children clothes overlapped on the storage hooks in the pre kinder 2 room, kinder and OSC rooms. - Ensure that children's personal belongings do not touch each other during storage.

      • The weather stripping on the back exit door in Toddler Room 1 was damaged. A gap was noted between the bottom of the door and the floor. - Repair or replace the weather stripping to ensure a proper seal.

      • Two washrooms in the pre‑kindergarten room located in the basement lacked paper towels at the handwashing sinks. The empty dispensers were refilled immediately during the inspection.

      • A diaper pad was kept within children's reach in the Preschool 2 washroom. Please ensure that the diaper pad is cleaned on both sides after each use, and it is kept away from children's reach.

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • 1. Unlabelled bottles of a purple solution (reported - Pine-Sol) was kept in sink cabinet accessible to children in Pre-Kinder 2 room. Unabelled bottles of a chemical solution (reported Pine-Sol) were observed in the Toddler 1, Toddler 2 and Preschool 2 rooms. Chlorine bleach disinfectant bottle was not labelled in Preschool 2 room. Ensure that all chemicals are kept away from children's reach and all chemicals are labelled.2. Storage room used for storage of chemicals (basement level) was accessible to children in Pre-Kinder 2 and OSC 1 rooms (not locked, accessible from the childcare rooms). Please address.

      • Food preparation (cutting fruit/vegetable) was conducted in the rooms and not in the approved kitchen (cutting boards and knives observed in the childcare rooms). Knives were observed in the drawers accessible to children in Pre-Kinder 2 and OSC 1 rooms. Ensure that all food preparation takes place in the approved kitchen.

      • 1. Batteries were accessible to children in the play phones observed in Preschool 1 and Preschool 3 rooms. They were removed during the inspection.2. Some staples were loose above the children's area in the Preschool 1 room. Please remove loose staples and secure the remaining staples with pieces of tape.3. Shaving cream with a warning label was kept within children's reach in Preschool 2. It was removed during the inspection.

      • Antiseptic wipes observed in the first aid kits (Toddler 2 and Preschool 1 rooms) expired in January 2024. Please replace.

      • Sink faucet handles were broken off in the Preschool 2 and Preschool 3 rooms. Please repair or replace.

      • Children clothes overlapped on the storage hooks - no physical separation was provided (8 inches space between the hooks). Ensure that children's personal belongings do not touch each other during storage. Updated on December 11, 2024: The clothes overlapped on the hooks used for storage of children's clothes in the Basement hallway (no bags provided).

      • Some children's bottles/cups were not labelled in Pre-Kinder 1 room and Pre- Kinder 2 rooms.

      • Insufficient number of hooks were provided for storage of children's clothes in Pre-Kinder room 2 (used by 21 Pre-Kinder 1 room children): only 15 hooks were provided for 21 children. Provide adequate number of hooks for storage of children's belongings.

      • Washroom fan covers were dusty. Updated on December 11, 2024: Washroom fan cover was dusty in the Preschool 1 washroom. Please clean.
