Inspection summary
Hester Creek Estate Winery has been inspected 4 times by Interior Health Authority since September 8, 2022. The most recent inspection, on December 9, 2025, found no infractions.
1 of 4 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Handwashing and staff hygiene and Cleaning and sanitizing.
Recent inspections have recorded fewer infractions than earlier ones, so the record is improving.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on October 9, 2024. For example:
7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on August 28, 2023. For example:
3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded 4 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on August 28, 2023. For example:
3 Are written food handling procedures (Food Safety Plan) current and available on site?
Other findingsLower risk
Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.
Recorded once on October 9, 2024. For example:
1 Does the facility have proper monitoring supplies?

We had the pleasure of having Lloyd as our host for our wine tasting! He was so friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable of the wine we were tasting! We had a fabulous selection of tastings and everything was very good! We really enjoyed our time at Hester Creek! It was a beautiful setting! My sister and I both bought two bottles each and I could have bought more! Thank you for a wonderful experience! I bought the Cabernet Franc and the Undici!

We came here for the second time and had an even better experience than the first. They really do have great wines here - and also great people which really makes the wine tasting experience amazing. We did a wine tasting served by Lloyd. He was very knowledgeable, accommodating and fun. He let us know of wine tasting food options, along with great cooking tips and recipes. The staff seem to have a great relationship and it seems to be a great culture which is really nice to see. Phil was also very friendly and great as well. The location was beautiful up the hill with a great view. We will definitely make this a stop on our list next time we’re back in Osoyoos.

Hester Creek has always been one of our favorite wineries in the Okanagan. After tasting some of their new released wines, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at their restaurant. The food and service were great. I wish to give a special mention to the chief for his gnocchi which were the best we ever had.
