Inspection summary

High Ground Cafe has been inspected 4 times by Interior Health Authority since May 4, 2023. The most recent inspection, on February 19, 2026, found no infractions.

3 of 4 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination and Pests.

The last 3 inspections in a row found no infractions. Recent inspections have recorded fewer infractions than earlier ones, so the record is improving.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 2 times on May 4, 2023. For example: 7 Are foods protected from contamination?

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on May 4, 2023. For example: 2 Are proper pest control measures in place on the premises?

  • Other findingsLower risk

Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.

Recorded once on May 4, 2023. For example: 1 Does the facility have proper monitoring supplies?

A lovely cafe tucked in Lone Butte. We had the pralines and cream latte and the espresso cream puffs. Both were delicious and the cafe had a cozy atmosphere that was perfect for a cold winter day. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcomed too. We will definitely stop back next time we're passing through the area!

High Ground Cafe really is a gem 💎. My hubby and I stopped in here while we were having some auto work done and the mechanic highly recommended this Cafe. The couple that owns the Cafe really knows how to make you feel at home. The desserts are really to die for.

We had a filling, tasty breakfast on Oct. 14th in a wee restaurant that also sells coffee, baked goods and serves as a meeting point for locals. Strongly recommend.

This is an amazing cafe! The staff are super friendly and there are loads of amazing tea and coffee options (my parents both enjoyed an amazing flat white) as well as loads of food/sweet treats. There were lots of gluten free options, and we enjoyed a slice of their gf peanut butter fudge cheesecake!! If you’re on a long (or short) drive I would definitely recommend stopping here!
