What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

  • Other findingsLower risk

Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.

Recorded once on February 4, 2026. For example: 1 Does the facility have proper monitoring supplies?

I had an amazing experience at Hugo’s Mexican Eats! I usually order chicken tacos whenever I visit a Mexican restaurant, but one of the staff members recommended that I try the cauliflower taco, saying it was their best. I’m so glad I took the suggestion because it completely exceeded my expectations! The cauliflower taco was absolutely incredible crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with the sauces and pickled onions. I’ve tried tacos at several authentic Mexican places, but honestly, this was one of the best tacos I’ve had in town. The staff were friendly, the recommendation was spot on, and the food was fresh and delicious. If you’re visiting, don’t just stick to your usual order give the cauliflower taco a try. You might be surprised like I was! I highly recommend Hugo’s Mexican Eats to anyone looking for great Mexican food. It’s definitely a place everyone should visit at least once!

Enjoyed lunch here with family. It has a self ordering and payment station. You grab your number and they come out to the table with the food. The food was flavourful and good. We will be back to try other menu items.

What a pleasant surprise. I decided to try Hugo’s in Fresh Street and was genuinely impressed. The Taco Loco is great value at $17. Two people could easily share it as a light meal. I had the beef and it was absolutely delicious, with a nice selection of sauces to round it out. The real highlight, though, was the atmosphere. The two staff members were chatting, laughing, and clearly enjoying each other’s company. It added such a positive, relaxed vibe to the whole experience. This was exactly the kind of meal I was hoping for after a couple of hours of mountain biking. I will definitely be back.

Before I started my weekly grocery shop, I noticed the mini taco shop and had to try! Fresh, quick and good prices. I had a chicken taco and it was delicious! Kids enjoyed loaded chicken nachoes and ate the entire plate. Great place and loved that it fed the kids prior to our shop

Best quesabirria tacos I’ve had in Kamloops!! The service was also so efficient I was hoping it wouldn’t take too long as I was on my break but the tacos were ready in 6 minutes! Extremely flavorful and free sauces for sides are available as well. Also had the nicest cashier. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu. Highly recommend
