      • No written procedures for skin cleansing prior to services, antiseptic use, and accidental cuts (for manicure and pedicure) were available.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • No antiseptic product was available for skin cleansing prior to services. Obtain a proper antiseptic.

      • No post-service care instructions were available. Please provide.
    • 12. Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
      • Sterility assurance documentation for sterile equipment was not retained with the clients' records. Ensure that sterility assurance documentation for all critical equipment used during services is retained with clients' forms. Discussed.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • No appropriate pigments were available: available pigments were expired. Obtain appropriate pigments.

    • 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
      • Operator was unable to notify the Alberta Health Services of existing personal service business.Personal Service Notification was submitted during the inspection, as directed by the PHI.

      • Written procedures, applicable to the business were discussed with the operator.Based on the services provided at the facility, following procedures were required.1)Written procedures for accidental cuts and punctures.2)Written procedures for skin cleansing.Templates for written procedures were provided during the inspection.Please note that these templates are for reference only, facility can use these or modify it as required.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • During the inspection it was observed that the operator was using the High-Level Disinfectant Pre-empt CS-20 for disinfecting the semi-critical tools.Following observations were made;1)Operator was diluting the HLD with the water.2)HLD was being reused for almost a week, without testing and maintaining the logs.Please make sure to follow manufacturer's instructions for use of HLD.HLD can be reused for 14 days, daily testing and log maintenance is required (Based on the choice of disinfectant AHP7 are the recommended test strips).Logs would be provided with this e-mail.
