    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • April 29:Follow up: Younger Toddler room: Hot water was only available at sink (over 48C), cold water was not available. Adult hand sink (cold and hot available). Advised staff to have children wash hands at adult sink and check temperature. Step stool required for children.Please have the hand sink repaired to ensure hot and cold water is available. Temperature at hot water should be a maximum of 49C though 43C is recommended (when cold water available). The temperature of the water at the infant A hand sink (near door to toddler room), preschool room was noted to be cooler. Staff indicated the water temperature changes.Please monitor and review the plumbing to ensure adequate hot water tank size is available to supply hot and cold water throughout all operational hours. Toilet in preschool/toddler washroom was not operational. Please investigate and repair to be operational at all times. April 22: Younger Toddler Room:Hand sink in the room was only cold. No hot water available. Sink is used for handwashing after diapering and toileting. Please repair the handsink to have hot and cold running water. Hot water is recommended to not be higher than 49C.

      • Infant room A: Bleach solution and bin with toys, knive were noted on side of hand sink in room, which could be accessed by children.Older Toddler Room A: A container with bleach water was next to the hand sink where children were washing hands. Older Toddler Room A:Soap was noted under the sink - moved to undercounter sink storage beside that had a child lock. Prekinder room:Bleach container was stored on the bottom of the cart - accessible to children. Removed and placed on top of shelving out of reach of children at time of inspection. Please ensure that all chemicals and hazardous items (knives) are kept out of reach of children. A shelf in the area would be strongly recommended.

      • Illness tracking is completed in each room independently.Noted that some rooms had no illnesses documented.Infant room: Noted 2 children with GI symptoms within 48 hours documented but not reported.Discussed outbreak reporting thresholds with Director.Please ensure that the program has reviewed the outbreak guidelines and has an illness tracking system for the whole program.

Remove water-damaged materials and repair the flooring.

      • Younger Preschool: Light in the bathroom was not illuminating.Please repair the lights (including electrical as needed) to ensure adequate lighting in the bathroom.Laundry room: light was not illuminating. Please replace the lightbulb.

Hinge on the children's play stove observed in the Preschool room (new part) was sharp - door was removed. Please repair or remove.

      • Strings attached to the children's toys were too long (2 feet) in the Younger Toddler room (old part).

      • One toilet was not in operation in the Older Toddler washroom (old part) and Preschool washroom (new part).

      • Some children's bottles were not labelled in the Toddler room (new part) and Preschool room (new part). It was addressed during the inspection.
    • 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
      • Toilet paper was not in the proper dispenser in the Toddler washroom (new part) and OSC washrooms. A toilet paper dispenser was missing in one of the OSC washrooms.
    • 30. Are workers washing hands when appropriate and/or in a proper manner?
      • Hand sanitizers observed in the Infant room (new part) expired in 2022, and hand sanitizer observed in the Kinder room (new part) had expiry date worn out.

      • Mini-fridge temperature was 17C in the Infant room (old part): The educators were aware of the issue and did not store perishable foods in the fridge. Mini-fridge temperature was 6.2C (8C on the fridge's thermometer) in the Infant room (new part). Ensure that the fridge temperature is 4C or lower. Please repair, replace or remove.
