      • A written detailed cleaning checklist is required (such as daily and weekly cleaning) that is being conducted by the program.

      • Discovery room: bathroom handwashing sink maximum water temperature measured at 55.1C. Less than 54C is required for sinks accessible to children (under 49C is recommended). A mixing valve/tempering device can be installed at this sink.All other sinks measured at 50-54C at maximum, which meet requirements, but <49C is recommended.

      • Unlabeled bleach water spray bottle in Wonder Room.
    • 05. Are communicable diseases at this facility being properly managed?
      • Disinfectants measured at 800 ppm chlorine in a couple of rooms and 1000 ppm in other rooms. Ensure disinfectant is at 1000 ppm chlorine during an outbreak.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • Paper towel was not in dispensers/dispensing units in most rooms.

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • Chemical observed in the unlocked cupboard. Please ensure chemicals are not stored in a location easily accessible by children. This was corrected during the visit.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Play mattress was observed to have some areas exposed with soft material around corners. Please ensure mattresses are maintained and are easily cleanable and impervious to moisture. This was corrected during the visit.

    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • Each room does have one first aid kit kept within a backpack. At the time that I was present some of the children left the toddler room, while others stayed. The first aid kit that was present was taken and the remaining kids/staff did not have kit present within the room.By June 11, 2024 ensure children/staff have kits present at all times.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • - In the preschool room washroom, the area between the hand wash sink and wall is showing signs of deterioration. The caulking between the sink and wall is deteriorating, increasing the risk of water infiltration, mould development, building material deterioration, and a conducive environment for pests. Please ensure the area is re-caulked to prevent further deterioration to the area. June 3, 2024 update: The sink above is slightly seperating from the wall and allowing for moisture to get in between the wall and sink. The program director Angie Clark said that she will work with the maintenance to fix the issue.By June 25, 2024 repair the sink.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • The door from the kitchen and the discovery room was left open. There was nothing accessible at time of inspection that would be hazardous to the children but this door should remained closed to prevent any unsupervised access.
    • 05. Are communicable diseases at this facility being properly managed?
      • Water play table in the preschool room was being used. During outbreaks water and sand play tables are not to be used to reduce the chance I communicable disease spread. Corrected during inspection.**Note: there was no compliance comment that accurately described the violation.

      • The diaper pad cover is ripped. The rip has been repaired with tape. You cannot properly disinfect a rip that has been taped.By June 11, 2024 replace the diaper pad cover with a material that is in good condition, washable and non-absorbent.
