      • Use emery bands for dremel bits found in container with new ones. Ensure these are discarded after use.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Dremel bits that have used emery bands stored in container with new emery bands. Discard emery bands after use and clean and disinfect dremel bits. 2. Emery files that are labelled multiple use are not being cleaned and disinfected in between clients. Clean and disinfect reusable emery boards between clients.

    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • Clean tool packs were stored in dusty drawers. Please ensure clean nail tool packs are stored in a clean area to prevent contamination.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • The following areas were dirty and needs thorough cleaning/ disinfection: - reprocessing area- manicure drawers/ surfaces- surfaces behind the pedicure chairs - pedicure carts
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Critical)?
      • The disinfectant tray's cover was dirty. Please clean and disinfect thoroughly.

    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Used single use items such as buffers, nail files were stored in the manicure drawers. Please ensure single use items are discarded immediately after use.
    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • Clean tool packs were stored in dusty drawers. Please ensure clean nail tool packs are stored in a clean area to prevent contamination.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Expired high-level disinfectant (Pre-empt HLD5; expiry July 2024) was on site. 2. Metal tools such as nail clippers, cuticle pushers, and nippers were disinfected using an intermediate level disinfectant (Pre-empt RTU). Ensure the following:- Replace the high-level disinfectant. - Please ensure all metal tools are disinfected using a high-level disinfectant. Example of high-level disinfectant: Preempt CS20, HLD5- All semi critical tools that were previously disinfected are disinfected again using an unexpired high-level disinfectant. - Ensure tools are cleaned/disinfected appropriately:- Clean tools using water and detergent. Rinse and dry thoroughly. - Pour high level disinfectant (example: PREempt™ CS20, Pre-empt HLD5) directly into soaking tray. Do not dilute.- Fully immerse tools in high level disinfectant. (5 minutes for Pre-empt HLD5 and 20minutes for Pre-empt CS20). RINSE, DRY & STORE- Rinse tools with water and dry manually using clean cloth or disposable towel. Store in a clean container marked “DISINFECTED”3. The manufacturer's instructions for disinfectants were not being followed. For example: operator mentioned that oil was added to the disinfectant. Please follow manufacturer's instructions when using a chemical product. 4. The pedicure basins were not being cleaned with soap prior to disinfection and disinfected with a diluted disinfectant (Pre-empt RTU). Ensure the following:- Scrub the pedicure basins with a brush and soap prior to disinfection.- Do not dilute Pre-empt RTU as it is ready to use and please follow manufacturer's instructions when using a chemical product.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • Hot wax roller with hair stuck on it was observed in the treatment room. Please ensure remaining wax from the wax roller including the head are discarded immediately after use.Violation corrected on site.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • The following areas were dirty and needs thorough cleaning/ disinfection: - reprocessing area- manicure drawers/ surfaces- surfaces behind the pedicure chairs - pedicure carts

      • There was no soap by the handsink in the waxing room. Please ensure soap is available by hand wash sinks at all times.
    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Used nail files, buffers are stored in the manicure table drawers. Please ensure single-use items such as nail files, buffers that cannot be cleaned properly are discarded after use.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. The high-level disinfectant (HLD5) is expired. Please replace. 2. Pre-empt wipes used to waxing bed are expired. Please replace.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • Wax roller was not discarded immediately after use on clients. If wax rollers are used, the entire roller including the head must be discarded immediately after use.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this personal services facility (Critical)?
      • Vim is used as a disinfectant to disinfect the manicure surfaces. Vim is not a disinfectant. Please ensure a disinfectant is used to disinfect surfaces.
