      • Drill bits were stored in a styrofoam container at all workstations in the manicure area, which is porous and not easy to clean. **Please use a storage container that is easy to clean and maintain.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • Staff stools in pedicure area were not being maintained in a visibly clean condition as there were several nail polish marks on the stools. **Please ensure all surfaces are maintained in a visibly clean condition. It is recommended to use covers which are easy to clean and maintain, such as removable covers.

      • 1. Alcohol spray bottles in both pedicure and manicure area were not labelled.**Please ensure all products within the facility are adequately labelled with their contents to ensure safe handling.

    • 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
      • Facility is providing new services including waxing, eyebrow tinting, lash/brow lifts and permanent make up without notifying Alberta Health Services. **Please submit new Personal Service Notification to Alberta Health Services for newly added services as the facility only recieved health approval for manicure and pedicure.
    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • Drill bits were stored in a styrofoam container at all workstations in the manicure area, which is porous and not easy to clean. **Please use a storage container that is easy to clean and maintain.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Observed rust on clean nail clippers in the reprocessing area. **Please ensure all reusable nail tools are thoroughly cleaned to remove the rust. If rust cannot be removed by cleaning. It must be thrown out.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. 7% Accelerated hydrogen peroxide test strips expired on April 3, 2024. **Please acquire new test strips with valid expiry date. 2. Staff have not been filling out the high-level disinfectant log on a daily basis. **The solution in the soak tray must be tested each day it is re-used, and the test result recorded in the disinfection log. 3. Staff said they were soaking reusable nail tools in PREempt CS20 for 15 minutes.**Please ensure reusable nail tools are submerged in PREempt CS20 for at minimum 20 minutes.4. Staff said they were reusing the PREempt CS20 solution for 2-3 weeks. **PREempt CS20 can only be re-used for up to 14 days, as per the manufacturer's instructions on the label.

      • 1. Dirty towel was being used as a surface for air drying clean reusable nail tools in reprocessing area. Staff said that the towel was being changed once a month. **Please ensure towels are changed daily or when visibly soiled to prevent contaminating clean tools. 2. Alcohol spray bottles in both pedicure and manicure area were not labelled.**Please ensure all products within the facility are adequately labelled with their contents to ensure safe handling.
