    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • Baby wipes were being used as a form of antisepsis. This is not a valid antisepsis product. It is important to use antisepsis prior to applying permeant makeup in order to reduce harmful bacteria's and viruses upon the skin. Please ensure that appropriate antisepsis is purchased and being used prior to permanent makeup. No permeant makeup services can be provided until this is completed. Once antisepsis has been purchased, please send a photo for verification.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • The overseas antiseptic product was still observed to be placed in the cabinet. The staff immediately removed the product and placed it behind the front desk for the owner to take. Please ensure that the bottle is removed from the premise.

      • Baby wipes were being used as a form of antisepsis. This is not a valid antisepsis product. It is important to use antisepsis prior to applying permeant makeup in order to reduce harmful bacteria's and viruses upon the skin. Please ensure that appropriate antisepsis is purchased and being used prior to permanent makeup. No permeant makeup services can be provided until this is completed. Once antisepsis has been purchased, please send a photo for verification.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The high-level disinfectant does not have test strips or maintenance logs. This will assist in confirming that the solution is still effective to disinfect tools. Please ensure that test strips and maintenance logs are implemented within the facility. Follow-up will be conducted in order to verify that test strips have been purchased and logs are being kept.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • It was observed that an overseas antiseptic product was being kept within the eyelash and eyebrow area of the facility. This product is not approved by Health Canada and cannot be stored at the facility. Please remove the item from the facility.

    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • Staff were unable to locate a cleaner or antiseptic product for the permanent makeup service. Follow-up will be conducted to verify that appropriate cleaners and antiseptic products are being used.
    • 12. Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
      • Onsite staff were unable to demonstrate where waivers were being stored. Services requiring a waiver are being completed by the owner, who was not present during the time of inspection. Follow-up will be conducted with the owner to ensure that waivers are being completed and kept for two years.
    • 12. Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
      • Staff were unsure if lot numbers, manufacturers and expiration dates were being kept tracked and documented on waivers.Follow-up will be conducted in order to ensure that lot numbers, manufacturers and expiration dates are being appropriately recorded.

    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Facility is using Glutaraldehyde as a disinfectant for their nail tools. Glutaraldehyde should only be used if the facility has the necessary safety equipment. This facility does not have the necessary safety equipment to use Glutaraldehyde. Reusable equipment consists mostly of cuticle pusher, cuticle cutters, cuticle trimmer and nipper, nail clippers. should be disinfected in an accelerated hydrogen peroxide. PREempt™ CS 20™ is a high-level disinfectant for reprocessing heat sensitive semi-critical and critical devices for which heat sterilization is not suitable.
