      • There were no written procedures developed for accidental cuts or punctures that might arise during a personal service.Corrective action: A written procedure must be developed in the event of an accidental cut or puncture.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • The operator indicated that distilled water is used to dilute tattoo inks. While the distillation process can remove a number of chemical contaminants, it does not guarantee that the water is free from microbes. Corrective action: If you wish to continue using water to dilute tattoo inks, it must be sterile at the point of use. Alternatively, the mixing agent that was available onsite can be used exclusively going forward.

      • Operator does not have written procedures for the:- Cleansing of skin and mucous membrane - Application of antiseptic products - Post-service care for personal services that involve puncturing the skin or mucous membrane- Client care in the event of an accidental skin cut or punctureCorrective Action:- AHS written procedures templates were provided.- Please complete and forward to your AHS public health inspector for review.
    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • There is no holder or dispenser for the paper towel in the washroom.Corrective action:Ensure the paper towel is stored on a holder or dispenser to facilitate sanitary hand hygiene.
    • 12. Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
      • Client record template is missing:- Client full name (First and Last)- Name of personal services worker who provided the personal service.- Sterility assurance documentation from all critical equipment purchased as sterile that is used.Corrective Action:Ensure your client records include this information.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • 1) Lighting is inadequate in the client service area.Corrective Action:Ensure there is adequate lighting to facilitate cleaning of environmental surfaces, reprocessing of reusable equipment, inspecting the integrity and cleanliness of equipment, providing personal services in a manner that does not cause injury, assessing the cleanliness of hands for hand hygiene, and assessing the appearance of the client's skin, hair, nails, teeth, and body as applicable to the personal service being offered. 2) There are surfaces in the client service area that are not smooth, non-porous and easily cleanable including 2 chairs (cloth/mesh material) and a fabric pillow.Corrective Action:- Replace these so that they are smooth, non-porous and easily cleanable.or- Remove them from the client service area.
