    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • Facility does not use an approved sanitizer for surface cleaning. Test strips were also unavailable.Corrective action: As discussed, please ensure to obtain an approved sanitizer such as a quaternary ammonium (quats) based product or unscented chlorine bleach. The corresponding test strips must also be obtained to confirm that the sanitizer is at the proper concentration to reduce microbes to a safe level.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • The facility is not monitoring for pests on a monthly basis. Proper pest control and monitoring is particularly important given the facility's location in an agricultural area. Corrective action: As a proactive measure, pest control and monitoring must be performed on a monthly basis. This may be accomplished by hiring a licensed pest control company, or completing the AHS pest control checklist. Please retain records of these activities for review by the PHI.

      • Facility does not use approved sanitizer for surface cleaning. Test strips also unavailable.As discussed, ensure you purchase either of Quats or Bleach and their test strips for proper sanitization of food contact surfaces.
    • 13. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) accessible to food handlers, located in suitable areas, and stocked with appropriate hand washing supplies?
      • Hand sinks were accessible but not stocked with soap and paper towel.Please get a liquid soap and paper towel for the handwashing station and send a photo to me when completed.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • The operator was not completing Pest Control Checklist regularly.Please complete this on a monthly basis and keep the completed copy in a file or binder for future reviewby the PHI.
