- ***There was a concern with the painted wooden toys, the shapes in the Infant room and the cars in the Jr Toddler room. Ensure toys with finishes are maintained in a cleanable condition and good repair.

- ***Wet / used cleaning cloths were being left on the counter. Staff were intending to use it for the table all day (snack/lunch etc). Discussed that the options were for the cloth to be stored in a sanitizer solution between uses or clean cloths to be used each time. They were going to use clean cloths each time.

- ***The facility allowing more than one diarrheal episode (or allowing several throughout the day as long as they were an hour apart) before contacting the parents for pick up is not acceptable. Parents of the child involved are to be contacted for pick up after any diarrheal episode. The updated policy is to be provided to the district inspector once it is completed.

- ***the emergency medication was discussed with the staff in the pre-kinder room (sever allergy notice was posted on the wall). The epi pen was present in the backpack but the staff took a while to find it. Recommended emergency medication storage be standardized and put in a dedicated specific pocket of the back pack for easy access in the event of an emergency.

- ***The safety belt was underneath the changing mat in the senior toddler room indicating that it may not be being used. Discussed with operator who indicated they had observed the staff diaper changing and using the safety strap but she would continue to monitor.

- ***The Quat sanitizer was not being maintained at an effective concentration. The spray bottles checked were 50ppm. The solution direct from the dispenser was 100ppm. Discussed that the effective concentration was 200ppm to 400ppm. Another solution was checked later during the inspection and it was 200ppm. Staff are to check and record the concentration to ensure effective 200ppm is dispensed and used.

- ***the frames for the water/sensory play was unfinished wood. Discussed that the finishes had to be cleanable (options were painting or staining or clear varathane coating, all non toxic or replacing with cleanable surface).

- ***There were apple pieces and pink slime present as a sensory play table. Discussed that this was not a safe practice. Operator reported that this was left over from yesterday and she directed a staff person to clean it out and planned to discuss with the planner.

- ***There were open rolls of paper towels present on the counters by the sinks. this is not a sanitary practice. Paper towels are to be in the dispensers or otherwise protected from contamination.

- ***The paper towel dispenser was out of reach of the children using the washroom in the senior toddler room. Dispenser was located above and behind the toilet and out of reach of the children washing their hands. Recommended that in the senior toddler room the dispenser should be relocated to a usable area by the washroom.

- ***There was a concern with the bibs being stored in the washroom. The washroom is not a clean and sanitary place to be storing food contact items. Discussed and facility plans on coming up with another way of storing the bibs.

- Discussed that the bleach spray bottle labels did not contain the concentration amounts. They were labeled during the inspection.

- ***Discussed the nap cot storage (was directly under the children's' and staff's personal storage area. Discussed the increased risk of vermin transmission. Staff came up with the good idea of moving the cots and putting a toy storage bin under the coat hooks. They plan on changing at nap time today.
