      • 1. A section of the baseboard in senior toddler room was in disrepair and held with a tape; A section of the baseboard in the pre-school room was missing. Please replace or repair the baseboards. 2. A wall panel towards the pre-school room exit was damaged and held with a tape. Repair the damaged wall.

      • Paper towels in most of the washrooms and hand washing sinks were not stored in suitable paper towel dispensers. Loose paper towels and paper towel rolls were observed.Please install suitable paper towel dispensers for all handwashing sinks to prevent contamination of the bulk supply.

      • Some electrical outlets in the OSC room did not have protective caps.Replace the missing caps.

      • The diapering bed/mat in the junior toddler's room was missing a safety belt. Please replace the missing belt.

      • Quat solution was being used as a diapering disinfectant. The PHI discussed approved disinfectants with the facility. The facility decided to switch to bleach/chlorine solution. Please note that 100ppm solution (half teaspoon of bleach per liter of water) is required for normal operations and 1000ppm during an outbreak. Obtain test strips to measure/verify the disinfectant concentration. Obtain Quat test strips if the facility will continue using Quat solution to disinfect toys and other non-diapering surfaces. Please note that the Quat solution must be used according to the manufacturer's instructions.

      • The diapering handwashing sink at the nursery room was being used to rinse off toys and plates. The staff were advised to use the sink only for handwashing. Toys and dishware must be washed at an alternative sink.

    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • ***Some areas were noted to be in disrepair. 1) In the junior kinder room, the window ledge was noted to be peeling and exposed wood was observed. Ensure all areas are in good repair and impervious to moisture.2. Shared washrooms for kinder and preschool was noted to have the wall behind the hand sink in disrepair. Paint was noted to be peeling and drywall exposed. The operator stated that maintenance work is scheduled for October 7/2023
    • 16. Does the social care facility have adequate lighting?
      • ***Lighting was noted to be inadequate in the preschool room. 3 out of 9 lights were noted to be functioning. Ensure adequate lighting is available for adequate cleaning and sanitizing to be done. Ensure that the light fixtures are operational.The operator stated that they disconnected the light fixtures because some of the children are sensitive to light.ACTION REQUIRED:There should be a means to turn on the light when needed and off when not needed. The light fixtures cannot be physically disconnected.
