- *Facility was re-using single use toe separators; these are single use items.

- - Porous and uncleanable equipment (large nail files) were not being treated with a suitable product. Antiseptic products (such as hydrogen peroxide, 70% alcohol or detergent/soap) can be used to treat porous/uncleanable equipment such as nail files used on artificial nails. They should not be soaked in water
- 18. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Non-Critical)?
- The following areas were not being maintained in a clean and sanitary condition:*Blue containers used to store clean tools were visibly unclean. Please ensure that containers are cleaned.*An appropriate disinfectant was not being used on surfaces. Staff indicated that alcohol was being used. There was both "Flexi Clean" and "Pre-empt RTU" on-site; both are appropriate surface disinfectants

- Re-useable equipment was not being disinfected properly:-Disinfectant log was not being maintained-There was not sufficient Pre-empt CS20 to fully immerse tools- Staff were not able to carry out proper procedures for disinfecting tools. They were spraying tools with Flexi-clean rather than soaking them

- 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
- - Cleansing of the skin is not being done prior to a service that may involve contact with mucous membrane, or that will puncture or may potentially break skin (ie. Waxing). Ensure cleansing is done prior to waxing, manicure and pedicure.
- 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
- - Single-use equipment was not being discarded after each use (ie. Toe separators). Equipment must be discarded after use on one client if the manufacturer labels it as: single-use, not for reuse, do not reuse, disposable, discard after single-use, or do not use twice.
- 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
- -Single use implements were not being used to dispense product; scoops were being stored inside the paraffin wax. Ensure that scoops are not stored inside product and only single use implements are used to dispense product.
