      • Antiseptic was not available.The operator informed that she has ordered alcohol wipes to be used on the skin before providing any service that intends to puncture the skin.

      • Written procedures not available for client care in case of accidental cut and puncture, and preparation of skin.
    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • -Facial razors were being re-used.-Single-use eyebrow brushes were being re-used.-The operator was advised to discard facial razors in a puncture-resistant sharps container after single use.-The eyebrow brushes were single use only. Make sure they are not re-used. The operator discarded them.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • A high-level disinfectant was not available in the facility to disinfect semi-critical tools.The operator informed that Pre-empt RTU (an intermediate-level disinfectant) was used to disinfect semi-critical tools.The operator was advised to stop the nail services until a high-level disinfectant is acquired.

      • A puncture-resistant sharps container was not available to discard facial razors.The operator was advised to acquire a sharps container.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • Reprocessing of semi-critical tools was done in the washroom sink.-The kitchen in the basement was not in use. -Reprocessing of semi-critical tools will be done in the kitchen sink. The kitchen sink cannot be used for purposes other than cleaning and disinfection of semi-critical tools.
