- Observation: The two-compartment sink and dishwasher have been moved to the back of the premises, separated from the main kitchen. Refrigerator, freezers, food equipment were also found in the back of the premises. (Public Health Significance) - any change and alteration may disrupt the flow of food, increasing the risk of cross contamination.
- Corrective Action: Operator to revise the floor plan and submit to Northern Health for Approval.
- 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
- Observation: Icing sugar and flours were stored in garbage bin. (Public Health Significance) - non-food grade plastics might release harmful chemicals to the food, causing chemical intoxication to the customers.
- Corrective Action: Operator to store food in food grade containers only.
- 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Knives were put inside handwashing sink for washing and sanitation. (Public Health Significance) - all food contact surfaces should be washed and sanitized in dishwashing sink. The wastewater from the handwashing sink may contain pathogens and toxic chemicals that can contaminate knives and prevent effective sanitation.
- Corrective Action: Operator immediately removed the knives from the handwashing sink for cleaning and sanitation.

- Observation: The food permit was not posted.
- Corrective Action: Post the food permit in a conspicuous location.
- 401 - Critical Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Paper towels were not installed in the coffee bar area. Staff member stated they dry hands on their apron. This can lead to re-contamination of the hands after washing them.
- Corrective Action: Operator installed paper towels upon request and provided education on proper hand washing procedures.
