    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Classroom 7: Play kitchen had visible debris and sand build up. 2. Classroom 1: Play kitchen and doll house had debris and dust accumulation. Clean and disinfect the indicated items at a frequency of at least one time per week.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Toys are not being cleaned and disinfected on a weekly or daily basis as required. Staff checklists were observed to be completed 1-2 times per month. Increase cleaning and disinfecting so that each toy is cleaned at minimum once per week.

    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Classroom 4: Walls were in disrepair. 2. Gym Space: Walls near classroom 6 entrance were in disrepair. 3. Classroom 7: Wall at the entrance door in disrepair. Patch and paint damaged walls so that they are smooth, non-porous and easily cleanable.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. Classroom 7: Play kitchen had visible debris and sand build up. 2. Classroom 1: Play kitchen and doll house had debris and dust accumulation. Clean and disinfect the indicated items at a frequency of at least one time per week.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • 1. Nursery: Children's items were stored collectively on the main tasking counter with handwashing sink. Provide adequate separate storage for children's belongings.2. Classroom 3: Children's diapers and creams were stored collectively in storage cabinet. Provide individually labelled storage solutions for children's personal items.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • A shelf measuring 122 cm (4 ft.) in height was not secured to the wall in Class 4. The shelf has a forward slant, which makes the shelf prone to tipping forward.Since this room is not currently in use, the violation is considered non-critical.REQUIREMENT: Secure all shelves greater than 4 ft. to the wall.
    • 28. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Critical)?
      • The handwashing sink in the diaper changing bathroom (rightmost bathroom adjacent to the Kitchen) did not have water at the tap.Asst. Director was unable to answer where children will be diapered if the primary diaper washroom is out of service.Inspector directed children to be diapered in the nearby public washroom located towards the entrance to the daycare, and to relocate any necessary diapering supplies to that space.REQUIREMENT: Contact a plumber and determine why the water has been shut off at this tap. Restore water at the faucet if the rightmost washroom is to be used for diapering.
    • 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
      • There was no paper towel dispenser located in the washroom in Class 2. A bulk roll of paper towel was resting on the top of the toilet tank.REQUIREMENT: Install a paper towel dispenser which can accommodate the roll of paper towel.

    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • For the new toddler classrooms, a diapering location and procedure has not been considered. REQUIREMENT: Information was provided to the Director, who will need to obtain all necessary equipment and supplies for the two toddler classrooms.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • The two toddler rooms do not have any window coverings to block out light and facilitate napping for children.REQUIREMENT: Obtain and install window coverings which will be child safe and sufficiently block out light.

    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • **Ongoing Issue** During the previous inspection, it was noted that: "Water staining was observed on several ceiling tiles in the Nursery room. It is not certain if there is currently an active leak that could be causing water damage."This inspection, it was noted that the ceiling tiles were still stained, and the amount of staining has appeared to increase.REQUIREMENT: Investigate the cause of the water staining. Replace any water damaged components (i.e. not superficially stained).
