    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • Hand sanitizer at one tattoo station was expired. Ensure all hand sanitizers are not expired to perform sufficient hand hygiene considering the concentration of alcohol can decrease over time. Purchase hand sanitizers that have either a DIN or NPN with an alcohol content of at least 60%.
    • 11. Is post-service care provided by personal service workers following any personal service or accident where a client's skin or mucous membrane is cut or punctured during a personal service, or when energy-emitting equipment is used?
      • The operator provided verbal post care instructions to clients. Verbal and written post care instructions are required to be given to each client. Please ensure a written post care document is made readily available after each service.
    • 12. Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
      • No records of sterility assurance documentation available on site at the time of the inspection. Sterility assurance documentation is required to have on record and maintained for 2 years. It must include the lot number, and the expiration of the needle attached to the client's records. Please ensure all tattoo artists are maintaining a sterility assurance documentation for every client.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. The first tattoo station on the left has a Cavicide spray disinfectant that is expired. Disinfectants must not be expired to ensure surfaces are being effectively disinfected. Please replace the expired Cavicide. 2. The operator is using isopropyl alcohol to disinfect client contact surfaces. Isopropyl alcohol is not a disinfectant and should only be used as an antiseptic. An appropriate disinfectant must have either a DIN or MDL with a disinfectant, tuberculocidal, mycobacterium claim. Please purchase appropriate disinfectants and ensure all tattoo stations are equipped with them to properly disinfect client contact surfaces.
