- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- 1. The operator is reusing the high-level disinfectant solution. No test strips were available at the time of inspection. Test strips are required to determine if the concentration of the high-level disinfectant solution is effective to reuse. Obtain accelerated hydrogen peroxide 7% test strips to test the Preempt CS20 solution. 2. No disinfection logs for the high-level disinfectant. Ensure disinfectant solutions are tested and values are recorded daily. Keep a record of the concentrations onsite. An AHS template was provided to the operator.

The steps for reprocessing semi-critical instruments are not correctly followed. - Wash tools with soap and water, rinse, thoroughly dry prior to fully submerging in undiluted high-level disinfectants for the required contact time provided by the manufacturer. Rinse with water afterwards and store in a clean/dry location.Ensure that all semi-critical instruments are reprocessed following proper procedures to achieve adequate disinfection and prevent potential risk of infection transmission.2. A bottle of CS20 and a bottle of PREempt RTU were expired. No unexpired bottles were available onsite to replace at the time of inspection.- Please discard and obtain unexpired ones.Ensure that only unexpired products are in use according to manufacturer's instructions.
