    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Two dead mice were found on the glue board located beneath a shelving at the back of the storage space, to the left of the stove area. Staff removed the dead mice and cleaned and sanitized the area during the inspection. Additional monitoring devices will be placed out in this area.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • There is a gap between the two-compartment sink and the wall on the left-side of the sink that must be sealed in order to prevent water from splashing over the side of the sink during dishwashing (water was observed on the floor beneath the sink and staff advised this happens due to the gap between the wall and the sink).Required action: the gap between the wall and the sink must be repaired.
    • 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
      • The metal sieve was found to be in disrepair- sections of the sieve were broken, exposing sharp edges of metal.Required action: discard the metal sieve.

      • Some equipment is left to dry on pieces of cardboard, or on cloth towels after washing and sanitizing. Ensure that equipment/utensils are left to air-dry on a food-grade surface that is water-resistant and in good repair (owner advised he would obtain a drying rack for use in the back and front areas of the store).
    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • The Food Handling Permit currently posted has expired. Please locate your current Food Handling Permit and post it in the front area where the public can see it.
