    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Home-made playdough is being utilized. Instead use commercially sold playdough or make playdough with cornstarch or a commercially purchased heat-treated flour (or flour labelled as ready-to-eat flour).There were some broken crayons in the Bear Cub Room. For children under the age of 3, broken crayons may be a choking hazard. Please remove the broken crayons.The rug by the door to the outside in the Chickadee Room has edges that could present a tripping hazard (are curling up). There are also rugs in the Mountain Lion room (green carpet, leaf-pattern carpet) and in Pika room that could present a tripping hazard. Please modify so that the edges can't be pushed up easily by a foot, creating a tripping hazard.

      • Flooring in several areas (particularly the Grizzly Room and washroom in between the Coyote & Mountain Lion Rooms, hallway) is coming apart at the seams. To be repaired. Have been taped up as a temporary measure.

      • The wooden enclosure for the diaper changing pad (Bear Cub/Chickadee changing area) needs to be re-sealed as the finish is coming off the wood on the inside bottom.The red chairs in the Grizzly Room need cleaning.The wall and bench under the paper towel dispenser in the Coyote/Mountain Lion bathroom need cleaning.The Resource Room needs some organizing.

      • The spray bottles of soapy water in the Coyote Room, Mountain Lion and Pika Room were no longer labelled. Please label so staff are aware of contents.The paper towel at the Pika Room washroom hand sink is not stored in a manner that will keep the supply from getting dirty/wet. Please store in a manner that will keep it clean and dry.

      • The solid blue rug (Grizzly Room) has edges that could present a tripping hazard. Please modify so that the edges can't be pushed up easily by a foot. Please check all rugs in all rooms.

      • The metal enclosure for the fire extinguisher in the Pika Room has some corners/edges that are not rounded. Please cover/pad corners/edges to prevent a potential injury. Edges covered but some of the padding has come off; please replace.

      • The ABC rug (Coyote Room) and solid blue rug (Grizzly Room) have edges that could present a tripping hazard. Please modify so that the edges can't be pushed up easily by a foot. Please check all rugs in all rooms as there were additional rugs that presented a tripping hazard (e.g. the teal-colored rug in the Mountain Lion room).

      • There was a heavy wooden playhouse on top of shelving until in the Grizzly room which could cause an injury if a child tries to grab it off the higher shelf. Please move playhouse to lower shelf.

      • The accelerated hydrogen peroxide product (Oxivir) was less than 5000ppm (0.5%) in the Chickadee and Coyote rooms. Corrected during inspection.

      • Staff were washing hands as needed but were turning off the taps with their hands afterwards. Taps to be turned off with paper towel to avoid re-contaminating their hands after handwashing.

To be repaired.Cardboard is being used as shelving dividers in the diaper change room. Please replace with a material that is easily cleanable and impervious to moisture.Cracks/damage on cupboard door where handle broken off (under change table in washroom between Coyote and Mountain Lion Room). Please repair.

      • Some of the chairs in the Mountain Lion room are torn. Some were removed and others just need to be repaired in a manner that makes them still smooth and easily cleanable.

      • Toys are being air-dried on a towel and the towel had some debris on it. Please air dry on clean and easily cleanable surface. Could dry on a rack with towel placed under the rack (so it won't touch toys) to avoid water dripping off counter onto floor.

      • Toys are being air-dried on a towel and the towel had some debris on it. Please air dry on clean and easily cleanable surface. Could dry on a rack with towel placed under the rack (so it won't touch toys) to avoid water dripping off counter onto floor.There were some painting frocks being hung in washroom to dry; please dry in room/area where they won't be subject to contamination.

      • The string lights in the Mountain Lion room were secured better so there is still an area (just where you enter the tree) where they are still dangling down and could possibly be reached by a child.Please secure better or higher.The tie-down/cleat for the blind cord to the left of the door in the Grizzly Room is broken. To be replaced/fixed.

      • Flooring in several areas (particularly the Grizzly Room and washroom in between the Coyote & Mountain Lion Rooms) is coming apart at the seams. To be repaired.

      • The change table in the room between the Bear Cubs and Chickadee Rooms has some damage to the front of the drawers. Please repair.
