      • Observation: Noted a large pot over the stove that did not fit inside the sink for washing. Chef indicated that it did fit in the dishwasher. She mentioned that she uses it for heating up water to use when washing dishes sometimes since the water at the tap is not hot enough to remove grease from the dishes after she's done several loads of dishes.
      • Corrective Action(s): This issue is indicative of an insufficiently sized hot water tank. Look into installing an additional tank or replacing the current one with a larger tank as discussed.

      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Detergent bottle for dishwasher was completely empty.
      • Corrective Action(s): Please ensure dishwasher is always supplied with detergent to ensure dishes and utensils are properly washed. Principal had this matter corrected at time of inspection.

      • Observation: Mouse droppings found under the double sink, under the oven and on the floor of the dry storage room across from the kitchen entrance.
      • Corrective Action(s): Clean up all mouse droppings and sanitize the affected areas. Please monitor the kitchen and storage areas daily and clean up any droppings as soon as possible. Premise is serviced by a licensed pest control company on a monthly basis using mechanical traps.

      • Observation: Mouse droppings found in dry storage closet, laundry closet, inside cabinet under kitchen hand sink, and inside cabinet under kitchen double sink.
      • Corrective Action(s): Clean up all droppings and sanitize the affected areas. Spoke to manager onsite who was aware of the problem and indicated they are working with their licensed pest control company to address the issue. Live traps will be used in the facility and advised manager to place a live trap in the cabinet under the kitchen 2-compartment sink.

      • Observation: Gap around plumbing lines in cabinet under kitchen hand sink and gap under door to kitchen need to be sealed to prevent rodent passage.
      • Corrective Action(s): Ensure the gap around the plumbing lines are sealed to prevent rodent entry. Manager indicated all doors in the facility will have door sweeps installed within the next 2 weeks. Advised manager to ensure a door sweep is installed for the kitchen door.

      • Observation: Small flies were noted in the dry storage room, the washer room, and the janitor's room in the universal washroom. Mouse droppings were noted in the dry storage room.
      • Correction: Operator is to clean and sanitize areas. Ensure cleaning is done at least weekly in storage areas and hard to reach areas.
