- 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
- No - there were no pest control service reports or invoices available for review. The monthly pest control service is conducted by a licensed pest control company, with operator advised to keep copies of service reports available on-site for review (whether paper copies of digital files), for a period of one year.
- 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
- No - the Food Handling Permit was not posted and not available. The operator is to continually post the Food Handling Permit in a conspicuous location, visible to the public.
- 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
- No - there was a lack of lighting in the rear corridor and storage areas, with fluorescent lighting to be added to the fixtures in place (as there were missing fluorescent tubes in the fixtures). Note: full lighting capacity is necessary for ease of washing food premises areas and as a health and safety issue, so as to prevent possible staff injuries from insufficient lighting.
