What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded once on August 19, 2026. For example: Critical Inadequate Cooling & Refrigerated Storage of Potentially Hazardous Food(s)

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on August 19, 2026. For example: Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control

  • Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk

Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.

Recorded once on August 19, 2026. For example: Improper Construction / Maintenance of Establishment

  • Other findingsLower risk

Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.

Recorded 2 times on August 19, 2026. For example: Operations and Maintenance/Other

    • Critical Inadequate Cooling & Refrigerated Storage of Potentially Hazardous Food(s)
      • Cooler #14 measured at around 9°C and is maintained at around 8°C from daily temperature log. Observed potentially hazardous foods (prepared within an hour) such as tofu were stored in cooler #14 and operator moved foods to other functioning coolers.
      • Corrected during inspection. Please adjust the setting and contact service technician to repair the cooler to ensure the cooler can be maintained at or below 4°C. No potentially hazardous foods to be stored at cooler #14 until the temperature issue has been fixed. Please provide update to Environmental Health Officer once cooler #14 is serviced and functioning properly.
    • Inadequate Insect / Rodent Control
      • Observed the screen at the back door has a gap on the bottom.
      • Replace with a full screen or repair to seal the gap on the bottle of screen. Please close the back door to prevent entry of pests before the screen is replaced or repaired.

    • Operations and Maintenance/Other
      • Observed QUATS sanitizer bottle measured greater than 400ppm.
      • Corrected on site. New solution was prepared on site and measured at 200ppm QUATS. Please maintain QUATS sanitizer around 200ppm verified by using test strips. Comments Handwashing sinks were equipped with hot and cold running water, liquid soap, and paper towel. Temperature log was maintained daily. Operator had valid FOODSAFE certificate. Dishwasher sanitizing rinse measured around 100ppm chlorine. Cooler temperatures measured at or below 4°C. Freezer temperatures measured at or below -18°C.
