      • A small number of fruit flies were observed in the kitchen area.-Please investigate and identify the source of the fruit flies and implement appropriate pest control measures to eliminate all pest activity.Additionally, please replace the open garbage bins with bins equipped with close‑fitting lids and a foot pedal to help prevent or reduce pest/insect activity.Above infraction was not inspected during the visit.

Unlabeled sanitizer bottle was observed in Sunrise serving kitchenette, and the concentration was also inadequate.-Please label all sanitizer bottles to prevent chemical misuse and monitor the sanitizer concentration as required.2 The mounted sanitizer dispensers in the main kitchen were not working properly.-Please repair or replace the sanitizer dispensers and ensure they are in good working condition.

      • The counter tops and cupboards are in disrepair in the two dining rooms.Main dining room: arborite on countertop is in disrepair. Sunrise court dining room: arborite is off the countertop in one area and lifting in other areas. The cupboards have water damage. -Please incorporate replacement of the counters and cupboards in the dining rooms into future plans.

      • A dirty wiping cloth was sitting on the spray bottle in the main kitchen.-Please store wiping cloths in sanitizer solution when not in use.
    • 09. Are chemicals stored and handled in a safe manner?
      • The spray bottles of quats sanitizer in the kitchen were not labelled.-Please label all bottles with contents.
    • 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
      • Cartons of milk and creamer at the coffee station in the main dining room were between 18-20 degrees Celsius.-Ensure that the milk/creamer is maintained at 4 degrees Celsius or lower.
    • 13. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) accessible to food handlers, located in suitable areas, and stocked with appropriate hand washing supplies?
      • Paper towels in a dispenser were not provided at the handwash sink in the willow bistro.-Please install a paper towel dispenser in the willow bistro.

The cupboards have water damage. -Please incorporate replacement of the counters and cupboards in the dining rooms into future plans.

      • 1. The lids on some of the juice containers were damaged and no longer cleanable.-Please replace the damaged lids.2. One cutting board had mold growing on it.-The cutting board was removed and taken to the dishwashing area at the time. 3. The ice machine in one resident hallway had a buildup of debris.-Please thoroughly clean the ice machine and add to the routine cleaning schedule.

      • 1. The cupboards, drawers, refrigerators, and freezers in the two dining rooms and all of the kitchenettes throughout the building had some food debris build up. Some of the cupboards had miscellaneous items stored, particularly in the cupboard under the sink.-Please thoroughly clean the dining room and kitchenettes and all food equipment in them. Ensure these are cleaned on a routine basis.2. The resident chairs in the dining rooms had some food debris build up.-Please thoroughly clean the resident chairs on a frequent basis.3. The plastic carts used to transport food in the kitchen and serving kitchens had some food debris build up.-Please thoroughly clean the carts and ensure that the carts are cleaned on a frequent basis.4. The ceiling vents in the main kitchen had some dust build up.-Please clean the vents.
