- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- PSW worker stated that a hot bead sterilizer is used for disinfecting tweezers used for lash extensions. This is not an acceptable method of disinfection for semi-critical equipment. There was a bottle of CS20 available on site but it expired in February 2025. PSW stated that one technician opts to use the CS20 for the tweezers. Test strips were available and not expired. A high-level disinfection log was provided during the inspection and education was provided on how to fill it out. For semi-critical equipment such as tweezers used for lash extensions, they need to be cleaned with soap and water to remove any visible debris, allowed to air dry, then fully submerged in CS20 for 20 minutes, rinsed off with water, then allowed to air dry again. If the CS20 is used more than once for disinfection, it must be tested daily using AHP7 test strips and the results must be recorded on a high-level disinfection log.
