Inspection summary
Haru Sushi & Grill has been inspected 3 times by Interior Health Authority since March 6, 2025. The most recent inspection, on March 12, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
None of the 3 inspections on record were free of infractions. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Food temperature control and Pests.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on March 12, 2026. For example:
5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on March 6, 2025. For example:
2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded once on March 6, 2025. For example:
2 Are proper pest control measures in place on the premises?
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on March 6, 2025. For example:
3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on September 18, 2025. For example:
6 Are the premises designed and equipped to ensure safe food handling?

Had a great lunch here. Was greeted by a very friendly and attentive server. My usual order of sashimi and rolls was very tasty, with portions on the larger side. Treated myself to some great gyoza that was nice and crispy on the outside. Miso soup was also great. The space is packed into a little corner in the mall, which is what it is, no big deal. Only knock? Interior is pretty dated, although it’s very spacious and welcoming. Will definitely be back the next time I am in Armstrong!

Greta little place! Somewhat hidden around the corner at the Askews strip mall but worth the trip! The waitress was pleasant to deal with and smiling while I asked questions and ordered. The food came out fairly quickly and was delicious! I had the chicken bento box! Plenty of food, left feeling comfortably full. The atmosphere is clean and happy! Enjoyed my visit and will make a trip again some time!

Had to try out this Sushi place in town. Honestly. It was amazing ! Large portions, fresh sushi, tight rolls, bright colors and flavor! The establishment was clean and tidy. Friendly staff, welcoming music. I have been to many many sushi places in larger cities and their rolls would be loose, no flavor, stale rice. But here at Haru. These rolls were spot on. Deffenitly will be back again and again.

I ordered the BC roll, and it was the best roll I have ever had. Our waitress was so kind and helpful, she reccomended I order the BC roll because it had everything I wanted but was bigger and more filling.

We got some maki rolls and the chicken yakisoba. Everything was super delicious. The chicken comes with a lot of mayo so beware haha but once you mix it in it’s so good and creamy. The mango roll and the oh!shrimp roll were both very delicious. The chicken teriyaki roll was also very good. Really can’t complain. Pleasant meal to chase away a terrible storm! I might add that the booth was really old and cracked and I was wearing shorts so it pinched my legs every time I sat down LOL but it was fine enough
