Inspection summary
Here's The Thing Vineyards has been inspected 3 times by Interior Health Authority since August 26, 2019. The most recent inspection, on April 25, 2024, found no infractions.
2 of 3 inspections on record found no infractions at all. No inspections are on record from the past 12 months. All recorded findings relate to upkeep, equipment or paperwork rather than direct food-handling risks.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded once on April 16, 2021. For example:
1 Does the operator have a valid operating permit or approval to operate?

Had an amazing tasting experience with Cindy. $10 tasting fee which is 100% donated to ALS research and we got to try 5 Here's the Thing wines. Extremely impressed with each wine we tasted, really nice quality stuff. Had a glass on the orchard patio after and the setting is really lovely. Couldn't recommend this winery enough!!

We were really disappointed with our experience. From the moment we arrived, Leah made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. Our bachelorette group was excited to celebrate but we were also polite, respectful, and mindful of the property. It’s also important to mention that several of the party were either pregnant or not drinking. There seemed to be frustration over accommodating one additional person for a tasting, despite it being a very minor change. We also felt like we were being discouraged from laughing and enjoying ourselves—even though we were the only patrons there at the time. Most disappointing of all, there was no acknowledgment of the bride or any effort to make the occasion feel special, despite it being a bachelorette celebration. The atmosphere became so uncomfortable that we actually left before finishing our tasting. It’s rare to cut a winery visit short, but we no longer felt welcome and didn’t want to stay where we felt like a nuisance. We completely understand that wineries expect guests to be respectful, and we absolutely were. We weren’t belligerently loud, disruptive, or disrespectful in any way—we were simply a group of friends celebrating a special occasion. Unfortunately, the service overshadowed the experience and turned what should have been a fun stop into the most disappointing part of our day. Every other winery we went to had told us how tame and laid back our bachelorette group was compared to what they were used to. After our visit, I was surprised to see that several other reviews described very similar experiences. I question whether the owners are aware of the impact this type of customer service is having and whether they fully understand how guests are being made to feel.

I'm disappointed to be writing this review, but our experience at Here's The Thing fell far short of what I would consider genuine hospitality. I was part of a bachelorette group visiting during a wine tour. We were looking forward to the tasting, and a couple of us (myself included) were not drinking. Despite the occasion, our group was respectful, and mindful of our surroundings. Additionally, a number of us work in the restaurant industry, have our WSET levels and are true wine lovers. From the moment we arrived, Leah's demeanor was noticeably confrontational. She expressed frustration over a discrepancy in the number of tasters (8 versus 9) and remarked that she was disappointed none of us had visited the winery before. Unfortunately, the interaction only became more uncomfortable from there. During the tasting, a few members of our group were laughing, and Leah abruptly told them to be quiet—even though we were the only guests in the tasting room at the time. Her repeated comments and overall attitude made us feel unwelcome, turning what should have been a fun celebration into an awkward experience. Rather than continue feeling disrespected, our group chose to end the tasting early and leave. It's unfortunate because we had been looking forward to experiencing the winery, but the service overshadowed everything else. I would recommend spending your time at many of the other wonderful wineries in the region who provide warm, hospitable experience one would expect during a wine tasting.

That was such a rough experience yesterday!! There was a group of us ladies (all in our 30s, professional working women/mothers/business owners etc) who were simply celebrating our friend getting married. When we arrived it was very obvious we were not welcome and whatever Leah had gone through that day, was clearly taken out on us. All of us are local to the Okanagan so it’s tough to want to recommend such a beautiful place with such brutal service. Leah threatened to cut us off from the wine 5 mins into our visit because the bride was laughing.. which was surprising because some of the gals there were pregnant and sober.. We were very tame and respectful and yet have never felt so unwelcome and because the bride couldn’t handle be treated like that any longer.. she walked out after her second glass. Majority of us being business owners in customer service (15+ years) know that there will always be tough days, but that’s never a good enough excuse to treat people like crap. Really too bad for their business, the Okanagan deserves someone that loves what they do and recognizes that the only way for business to survive is to know that customers (especially locals in the off season) are what keep business thriving. Best of luck to you guys.
