    • 02. Is all food in this facility from an approved source and/or properly labelled?
      • Some packages of spices, flour, grains and other dried goods are not labeled to indicate the name of the product, as well as the name of the store along with contact information (phone number/email address for customers to reach the operator with any questions or concerns re: the product). Ensure all packages of food are labeled as required.
    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • A food grade sanitizer was not observed at the time of the inspection.
    • 11. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
      • Hot water tap was not functioning at the two-compartment dishwashing sink.Ensure plumbing is functioning and hot water is available at the dishwashing sink for proper dish cleaning and sanitizing.
    • 12. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • Test strips for a food grade sanitizer was not observed at the time of the inspection.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • No pest control records were being kept. Facility conducts self monitoring and only requests pest control when pests are noticed. Monitoring devices were not noted at the time of the inspection.A copy of the pest control check list was provided and discussed with the operator. Please complete a checklist each month and have them compiled in a binder to be reviewed for future inspections.
    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • An up-to-date food handling permit was not posted in a place visible to the public.

      • Some packages of spices, flour, grains and other dried goods are not labeled to indicate the name of the product, as well as the name of the store along with contact information (phone number/email address for customers to reach the operator with any questions or concerns re: the product). Ensure all packages of food are labeled as required.
    • 13. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) accessible to food handlers, located in suitable areas, and stocked with appropriate hand washing supplies?
      • The paper towel holder in the staff washroom was empty. Corrected during inspection.Ensure the staff washroom is always supplied with liquid soap and paper towel in dispensers at all times.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • No pest control records were being kept. Facility conducts self monitoring and only requests pest control when pests are noticed. A copy of the pest control check list was provided and discussed with the operator. Please complete a checklist each month and have them compiled in a binder to be reviewed for future inspections.
    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • The current Food Handling Permit was not posted upon arrival. The operator located the current permit in his email account and printed the new permit for posting during the inspection.
