    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Single use disposable items such as emery boards, buffing blocks were being reused between clients.Please ensure these porous, uncleanable items are discarded between each client service.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • Cuticle nippers in the UV light cabinet were rusted. Sterilization pouches use to store clean equipment were stained with rust.Please ensure:- all rusted equipment and contaminated pouches are discarded. Ensure clean equipment is stored in a manner that prevents contamination. - visual inspection is conducted on all cleaned equipment.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • - Preempt CS20 disinfectant solution was ineffective and did not meet the 7% hydrogen peroxide (70,000ppm) minimum required by the manufacturer to achieve high level disinfection. AHP 7 test strips (exp 06/2025) from Luvie Nails & Spa were used to test the efficacy of the Preempt CS20 solution that was being used at the time of inspection. The solution failed the test as the colour on the test strip changed at 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The manufacturer requires that the colour change occurs within 35 seconds. PHI tested the bottle of CS20 (exp 10/24) and the test strip colour changed within the 35 second requirement.- Last test result documented was on June 28. Staff were not trained to properly use the disinfectant, while the owner was away on vacation. AHS disinfectant logs were used past the maximum 14 day reuse period for the CS20.Please ensure:- staff are trained to test and document test strip results- Preempt CS20 solution is changed according to the manufacturer's instructions for use (14 days) and when it fails the efficacy test.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • General sanitation around manicure table was unsatisfactory. There was visible buildup of dust, debris, and cosmetics covering tables, chairs and equipment.
