      • Observation(s): The door to a maintenance room on the main floor was unlocked and accessible to children.

      • Observation(s): C2.1G - Regulation 56(1)(d) - The complainant alleged that a staff was not following the employee cell phone policy and distracted. Through the gathering of information licensing has found this allegation substantiated. The facility has a policy in place to guide employees around personal cell phone use however it was not being followed by a staff. The facility manager has taken corrective action. Licensing has requested and received the revised personal mobile devices policy and an email thread sent to all staff advising of the revised policy.

    • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?
      • Observation(s): Items (sun block and diaper cream) labelled keep out of reach of children accessible to children in care. -Facility, equipment, furnishings and toys appear to be in good repair, safe, clean and age/developmentally appropriate. -A discussion was had about checking manufacturers recommendation for integrity of product and replacement/repair requirements for mats used in gymnasium as they are starting to deteriorate. -Due to snow coverage of resilient material in play space depth could not be assessed.

    • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?
      • Observation(s): A slide was placed in the "digger" outdoor play area where the resilient material is not adequate measuring approximately 1-2 inches in depth. There was a sharp wire from the fencing exposed. On the infant/toddler outdoor play area a climber was placed too close to a hard surface. It should have six feet of clearance around equipment for safety. All of the above issues were resolved during the inspection. In the infant/toddler nap room some items are stored in an unsafe manner, leaning up against a wall. Please ensure these items are safely stored as discussed.
      • C7.1G - Equipment, furniture and supplies must be sturdy, safe, easy to clean and free from hazards; 15( 1 )(a)
      • C7.1AK - A 1.8 meter (six feet) clearance around equipment is considered safest; Director of Licensing Standards of Practice-Safe Play Space
