- 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
- - 1. Room One: Some toy storage shelving units had the edge trims missing, exposing raw wood. ** Replace missing edge trims and ensure the surface is made smooth/easy to clean. 2. Room Three: The toy storage shelving unit for toy dolls had the edge trim hanging off, exposing raw wood. ** Properly secure the edge trim back in place and ensure the surface is made smooth/easy to clean. 3. Room Three: There are cloth bins being used to store some toys that cannot be laundered without being damaged. ** Replace the cloth lined bins with storage bins that are easy to clean. 4. Teacher Staff Room: There was water staining observed on the ceiling tile. ** Determine the source of water infiltration/excess moisture causing for the water stain, assess for mould growth, remediate if necessary, and abate the source. Then, remove water stained ceiling material and replace with all new materials. Continue to monitor.5. Room One: The child safety lock for the fridge was broken and ineffective.**Please replace the child safety lock with a new one that is effective. 6. Room Two: The sheet that is being used to cover the lower portion of the change table on the back side was not easy to clean due to the slightly absorbent material.**Replace the sheet so the surface is easy to clean or install proper cabinets for storage of diapering items for children. -

- -Room One (Baby room): There was a baby bottle with milk in it that was stored in the refrigerator that was not labelled with the child's name. ** Please label the bottle with the child's name. -
- 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
- -OSC Room: There were 2 tall shelves ( close to 4 FT high) that were not secured to the floor or wall. One shelf wobbled and was unstable at the base when touched. ** Please properly secure the shelves to the wall by anchoring it in place to prevent it from falling over and injuring children. -
- 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
- - 1. Room Two: The faucet at the hand sink in the children's washroom was not operating properly. The automatic dispenser was difficult to trigger any water flow, nor was the water able to flow consistently to allow for proper handwashing. Many attempts had. ** Please repair or replace the faucet to encourage proper handwashing. 2. Room Two: The water from the hand sink directly outside of the child's washroom measured greater than 54 degrees Celsius. Despite the sink having a label "staff only", the supervisor mentioned that this sink was being used as a backup to the child's handwashing sink in the washroom.** Once the child's handwashing sink is repaired, please do not allow children to use the 'staff hand sink'. Or, install a mixing valve at this faucet if children are to be washing their hands here as well and ensure the hot water temperatures reaches no more than 49 degrees Celsius. -
- 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
- - Room Three: Despite there being cubicles throughout the facility that allow for proper storage/ separation of children's items, there were hooks attached to walls observed where children's personal items such as jackets/ backpacks were overlapping / touching without proper separation.** Please install proper cubicles for storage or ensure adequate separation between each of the children's personal items. -
