- 1. Chemicals and cleaning agents were being stored on shelving alongside dry food products. Corrective action: Chemicals and cleaning agents must be stored separately from food items to protect them from chemical contamination.2. A couple of spray cans containing Raid (insecticide) were observed in the kitchen. The operator reported using the product on flies in the kitchen, which is not permitted due to the likelihood of contaminating food and food preparation surfaces. Corrective action: Any pest control measures involving sprayed chemicals must be done by a licensed pest control operator. Therefore, the Raid must be removed from the facility. Appropriate alternatives to capture flies involve the use of fly strips (i.e., glue traps) or a fly light (which has a mechanism to catch the dead flies so that they do not become a physical contaminant).
