- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- 1. A high-level disinfectant was required for disinfection of semi-critical tools. Somes examples including PreEmpt CS20 or PreEmpt HLD5.2. Obtain 2 bottles of proper indicator test strips. If using PreEmpt CS20, buy AHP7 indicator test strips (50 count). If using PreEmpt HLD5, buy AHP2 indicator test strips (100 count).3. High-level disinfectant logs were not established. Templates will be provided. Keep at least a 2-year history of high-level disinfectant (HLD) logs available on-site for future inspections to prove proper logs are being maintained. Ensure HLD logs are being kept for each high-level disinfectant tray used. Recommend only using 1 high-level disinfectant tray.4. The high-level disinfectant (HLD) tray(s) were too small. Purchase a suitably sized inexpensive container (i.e. plastic/glass container with a lid from the dollar store) to be used for disinfection of semi-critical equipment. Ensure it is large enough to fully immerse the largest piece of equipment (i.e. large “cheese-grater” style metal foot files) and ensure equipment can be visibly seen to ensure full immersion.5.
