    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • -There were storage shelves over 4 feet high that were not secured to the wall. Ensure storage shelves over 4 feet are secured to prevent tipping.
    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • -There were paints that were not labeled as non-toxic. Please ensure only non-toxic craft supplies are used by children.

      • -Proper care is not being taken to restrict kitchen entrance by clients in a daycare. The kitchen space was accessible and being used by children. Children go into the fridge for their lunches, wash their hands at the kitchen sink, microwave their own food. Access to the kitchen space has to be restricted.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • - There are new requirements for first aid supplies. Please refer to Appendix H of the “Alberta Health Services Childcare Guidelines.” The list of supplies should be printed out so that regular audits can be completed.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • -There was a couch in the classroom with a torn cover. Please repair. *Both couches in the classroom were difficult to clean. All furniture should be easy to clean and sanitize.

    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • One of the washrooms was out of paper towels. CDI
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • Not likely to be a common occurence but one of the kids was observed to be napping a shared couch.If kids occasionally but not regularly use the couch to lie down then you need to put out freshly laundred sheet on the couch prior to them lying down.
