      • -Written procedures were not available for this facility.Please ensure written procedures are developed for: Hand Hygiene, Supplies and Equipment, Single Use Equipment, Reprocessing Re-usable Equipment, Cleaning and Disinfection and Storage at the Base of Operations
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • Re-usable non-critical tools (makeup brushes) will be cleaned in the washroom sink.Written procedure for decontamination of dual purpose sink was reviewed with the operator.

      • Written procedures for client care in case of accidental cut and puncture, for cleansing of skin, and for decontamination of dual-purpose sink were not available.The written procedures were reviewed with the operator.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • - Semi-critical equipment (double-loop comedone extractors) are not being adequately cleaned and disinfected. Ensure semi-critical must be cleaned and disinfected using, at a minimum, a high-level disinfectant.- High level disinfectants are not being tested and verified daily using proper test strips. Ensure the high level disinfectant is tested daily using the test strips specified by the disinfectant manufacturer.- Disinfection records were not available. Ensure records are kept of: test dates, whether the solution passed/failed, when the disinfectant was changed and the worker’s initials who performed the activity.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • - The reprocessing work surfaces and sink are located in an area in which clients have access and/or in a room that contains a toilet. The reprocessing area cannot be located in an area that is accessible to clients or in a room with a toilet. Please ensure that a sink and counter space is installed in another location.
    • 31. Are sinks accessible and used appropriately for the personal services provided?
      • - Handwashing was occurring at a sink used for non-critical equipment reprocessing. The written procedure for decontamination of a dual purpose sink was reviewed with the operator.The operator would like to install a reprocessing sink outside of the washroom.
