  3. Monitoring

    4 infractions

    • F1.7 Are foods protected from contamination?
      • Observation(s): Observed scoops stored in bins of dry food products. Dry foods can become contaminated through contact with hands or contact with hand contact surfaces of scoops. Scoops must be stored in a manner that prevents contamination.
    • F2.1 Does the facility have proper monitoring supplies?
      • Observation(s): Some test strips for monitoring sanitizer concentrations were found to be expired. After the expiry date test strips may not provide an accurate indication of sanitizer concentrations. Please discard the expired test strips and ensure that each separate food handling area has access to sanitizer test strips.
    • F2.3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
      • Observation(s): the "satellite kitchens" or food service kitchens were all supplied with a sanitizer that does not meet the requirements for food contact surfaces. Please ensure that each kitchen is provided with an approved no-rinse food contact surface sanitizer for the sanitary maintenance of food handling areas.
      • F2.3D Sanitizer solution must be available and kept at the correct levels for adequate sanitizing action.
    • F2.5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?
      • Observation(s): Observed a cat bed and cat toys on the counter in one of the food service kitchens. Operator indicated that one of the residents in this ward has a pet cat which has free roam of the ward. Only certified service animals are permitted within permitted food premises. Operator must alter food handling operations in this area to mitigate the potential risks associated with pet animals in food handling areas, or the pet cat must be prohibited from access to the food service area. Provide EHO with a proposal, by July 14th 2023, indicating how this matter will be handled.
      • F2.5F Animals must not be permitted in the premises unless they are certified service animals.
