- Written procedure templates relevant to the business were provided during the inspection (skin cleansing, accidental cuts, dual purpose sink use).The operator was instructed to complete the templates and ensure that all staff members are aware of the procedures. Please send the completed templates via email.
- 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
- A used buffer and an old nail file were found stored in one of the manicure drawers.Discard all single-use items immediately after use.
- 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
- Dusty tools (nail clippers, nippers and tweezers) were stored inside the manicure station drawers.The operator was instructed to store used tools separately in a designated basket and take them directly to the reprocessing area.
- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- The cleaning and disinfection procedure for reusable manicure/pedicure tools was discussed with the operator.It was noted that the facility is not drying the tools before submerging them in PREempt CS20. The operator was instructed to dry the tools and then submerge them in CS20 for 20 minutes, then rinse (follow the manufacturer’s instructions)).High-level disinfection (HLD) logs were not maintained.The method to complete the records was discussed onsite. The operator was instructed to maintain these records.

- Tweezers used for waxing were cleaned with soap and water, then rinsed and air-dried.The operator was instructed to clean and then disinfect the waxing tweezers using a low-level disinfectant (follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use).The pedicure basin cleaning and disinfection procedure was discussed with the operator. The operator mentioned that they use a Lysol solution to clean the basin, followed by the application of a bleach solution.The operator was instructed to clean and scrub the basin with a soap solution and then, they can disinfect with Lysol (following the manufacturer’s instructions). However, it was recommended to use an intermediate-level disinfectant to disinfect the pedicure basins (since they have TB claim and shorter contact time). *The template “Selecting the Right Type of Disinfectant for Your Personal Service Business” was provided to the operator.
- 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
- Cosmetic products bottles were not labeled. Operator was instructed to label all the cosmetic bottles with their names.Wooden sticks used to scoop out the foot scrub were observed stored inside the product. Some of the sticks had scrub up to the top. The operator was instructed not to store sticks inside the product to prevent contamination. Single-use wooden sticks should be used and discarded after use.

- All manicure station drawers contained dust and debris.Some of the manicure workstation chairs had whitish spots on them, and the surfaces appeared unclean.Please clean the indicated areas.

- Many pedicure chair headrest surfaces were deteriorated and no longer smooth or easily cleanable.The operator was instructed to repair or replace the chair covers to ensure the surfaces are smooth and easily cleanable.
