      • The electrical outlet was not blocked with a child safety cover and was accessible to children.The operator immediately installed a child safety cover.
    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • Ceiling tiles located in the toddler room were observed to be water damaged.Please address and repair the source of the leak and replace the tiles.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • The diaper changing station located in the infant room had no accessible handwash sink. The operators would travel through the toddler room and use the washroom for hand hygiene.The operator was instructed to immediately discontinue this practice. The diaper changing station was relocated to the toddler bathroom, where the operators have access to a designated handwashing sink.
    • 15. Is laundry being properly handled in a suitable manner?
      • A used cleaning cloth was stored on top of the diaper changing station.The operator promptly discarded the towel. Please ensure staff are discarding used cleaning cloths into the appropriate containers for laundering.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Tape was observed peeling from the posters located on the partition in the toddler room. Dirt and debris were embedded in the sticky side of the tape.Please remove the tape and replace it with new tape that is smooth, easily cleanable, and impervious to contaminants.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • The handwash sink located in the toddler room was not supplying hot water. A probe thermometer was used and measured at 21C.Please repair the handwash sink to ensure it is supplying hot water with a maximum temperature of 54C (recommended 43C-49C).

      • Light fixture without cover observed in preschool washroom.-Please provide suitable cover or ensure the bulbs are shatter proof to prevent the risk of injury in an event of bulb breakage.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • The diaper mat currently in use in the bay room is torn and covered with a fabric material, making it unsuitable for hygienic use. -Please replace the diaper mat with one that has a smooth, non-absorbent, and easy-to-clean surface
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • Paper towels in the baby room are currently stored in an open basket, which exposes them to potential bulk contamination. -Please provide and install a suitable paper towel dispenser that ensures sanitary storage and a paper towel at a time access.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Walls with peeling paint and without floorboard were noted in the preschool classroom.-Please repaint and provide floorboard in the indicated area to ensure good repair.

      • Children's water bottles without name tags were noted in preschool classroom.-Please label all children's water bottles with their names to prevent mix up and inappropriate use.

      • The toddler/infant room had staples and pushpins to hold papers, art, etc. on the wall.REQUIREMENT: Remove the pushpins. If staples are used, cover the staple with tape to help prevent it from falling off to the ground; Alternatively, use only tape to support these objects.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • There was an electronic 'Tickle-Me-Elmo' doll for children to play with in the pre-school room. This doll cannot be laundered and hot air dried due to the unremovable electronic components.REQUIREMENT: Remove this toy from the centre. Do not bring in electronic plush toys unless the electronic components can be fully removed.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • The water temperature at the children's handwashing sinks at the toddler/infant room's bathroom were measured to be 17C. This temperature could discourage children from routinely washing their hands.REQUIREMENT: Increase the temperature to a comfortable temperature (ranging between 26-40C).
    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • 1) Spray bottles containing chemicals in the toddler/infant room's bathroom were not spraying.2) Spray bottles containing chemicals in the toddler/infant room's bathroom were not properly labelled.REQUIREMENT: Ensure spray bottles are properly operating and labelled.
