      • The sponge used for cleaning the reprocessing sink was visibly dirty. (Discarded)Ensure cleaning tools are maintained in a sanitary manner.

      • The operator sent a 'Planning Guide and Teaching Tool' for the laser machine, which is not a substitute for a proper ownership manual.REQUIREMENT: Obtain the operator's manual for the machine. Send it to the Public Health Inspector and ensure all procedures, including reprocessing requirements, are followed.

      • There were several unlabelled containers holding cosmetic products that had been transferred from their original bottles.Any products that have been transferred must be properly labeled with the product name and contents

      • A strip of wood was missing from the edge of the countertop surrounding the reprocessing sink.Repair the aforementioned area.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • 1. There were indications (cook marks on the stove and pot stored in the cabinet) that the cooker located next to the reprocessing area was in use for food preparation. Food must not be prepared, cooked, or stored in the reprocessing area to prevent cross-contamination and ensure the area is used exclusively for cleaning and disinfecting equipment and instruments.2. Complimentary tea was being offered using reusable client dishware. The facility is not equipped with the necessary dishwashing equipment to properly wash, rinse, and sanitize reusable utensils and dishware.Discontinue the use of reusable dishware for serving complimentary tea. Provide single-use disposable cups and utensils or install an approved three-compartment sink or commercial dishwasher to allow for proper washing, rinsing, and sanitizing of reusable items.

    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • Handwashing sinks in the washroom and client procedure room did not have soap and paper towel in a proper dispenser/holder.REQUIREMENT: Obtain the necessary supplies.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • The operator did not have a skin cleanser to be used before starting facial and Brazilian wax services.REQUIREMENT: Cleansing of the skin is a requirement before proceeding with any service that may contact the mucous membranes.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) Operator intended on disinfecting reusable tools and pedicure basin with alcohol.REQUIREMENT: Operator must obtain disinfectant of appropriate strength for any reusable tools that are non-critical and semi-critical.2) Operator did not have an appropriate container of size and material to immerse tools in disinfectant.REQUIREMENT: Obtain a container of proper material and size to ensure reusable tools are properly disinfected.

      • 1) Operator does not have forms that will go through the contraindications for laser machine usage.REQUIREMENT: Create a medical information form for clients to fill out.2) Operator did not have a user manual for the laser machine readily available onsite.REQUIREMENT: Obtain a user manual for this specific laser machine.

      • The operator had an aloe vera gel which the instructions for use were written in simplified Chinese.Operator does not read or speak Mandarin.REQUIREMENT: Any products used by the operator of a business must be able to be fully understood to ensure the product is used appropriately. Products for legal sale in Health Canada will have English/French instructions.
    • 30. Is the reprocessing area of a personal service facility that uses reusable equipment properly designed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of clients?
      • The operator has a fridge located nearby in the reprocessing area (originally a secondary kitchen). Foods were being stored in the fridge and could be an area for meal preparation with the stove nearby.REQUIREMENT: This area cannot be used for meal preparation, meal storage, or cooking. Remove all foods from this fridge.
